Vancouver & Victoria Ventures
Chris was a speaker at the Anti-Smugglers Investigative Associations Conference in Seattle, WA so we decided it would be a great opportunity to check out the British Columbia part of Canada as part of this trip. We visited both Vancouver and Victoria, but I must admit that Chris just wanted to visit Vancouver and the Victoria part was a “Libby add-on.”
We stayed downtown in Vancouver pretty much walking distance from everything. During our stay we visited Stanley Park, the Capilano Suspension bridge where I conquered my fear of heights, and we saw Grouse Mountain. We also saw the filming of the “Fantastic Four” which was kinda cool since the movie was set in New York City and they had changed downtown Vancouver to look like NY – subway stations, NYPD, and all.
We took a ferry from the Vancouver into Nanaimo Bay on the Victoria side then drove about an hour to get into the heart of Victoria. As soon as we arrived, we were upset that we were only staying for one night rather than the two nights we had invested in Vancouver. You see, Victoria is a picturesque town similar to a European Village. On the other hand, Vancouver is just like any other city – they were shooting a movie based on NYC action after all! While in Victoria, we enjoyed visiting and browsing through the eclectic shops and the pubs the town offered. Apparently, Victoria is the retirement home for many wealthy Canadians because of village atmosphere and the seasonal weather.
